Agent link building: research, records and review

An agent can organize backlink research, inspect evidence and keep records current. The workflow needs a clear division of responsibility: tools return observations, records preserve intent, and the owner decides which actions are authorized.

Give the agent a bounded task

Specify the target resource, research scope and permitted actions. Reading a competitor export is a different permission from sending a publisher an email. Put that distinction in the task so a useful research result does not silently become a campaign.

Keep durable local records

Retain the source and target pair, intended outcome, provenance and last observation. The record should survive a chat session. Separate wanted opportunities from expected placements and retired work so each check has an understandable context.

Use observations as evidence

Have the agent read the latest page result before recommending a change. Include uncertainty when requests fail or rendering limits apply. Tool availability does not make every proposed action appropriate for the current campaign.

Review the next external action

A handoff should contain a recipient or destination, the exact proposed message or edit, and the evidence supporting it. Confirm authority before sending or publishing. A locally prepared draft is useful progress while that review happens.

A practical example

An agent imports a candidate list, groups duplicate source pages and prepares three relevant prospects for review. For each, it includes the page section, reason for fit and suggested next action. No contact is made until the owner authorizes it. When a placement is later confirmed, the record can move into ongoing monitoring.

Choose MCP when your client supports the product’s connection requirements, or use an authorized REST connection. Either interface still needs identity, scope and error handling. A local ledger is useful for durable campaign context; it should not turn unavailable history into invented events.

What you can use in AgentLinkOps

AgentLinkOps is an invitation-only pilot. The public tool guide describes the connection surface. The repository CLI and ledger work are development surfaces; do not assume a public installable package or a fully enabled discovery workflow.
